Dr. Harmond:

I had forgotten in my last letter to mention that I would be interested in hearing from your colleague.

I also wanted to explain why I asked my last question. While reading the last paragraph of your paper (again) it occurred to me that telepathy (What is the "correct" term for telepathic?) might not be a quality of future development, but that it might be a trait that humans have lost through the years.

I haven't had time to really think about this in depth, but I thought you might have some insight.

I thought that perhaps as humans gained intelligence-and especially self-awareness-we began to build the walls you mentioned. (Kind of like we were trying to protect our thoughts from other people.) As we became more self-aware, the walls became stronger, we forgot how to communicate telepathically, and therefore, verbal communication developed.

Like I said, this is a very "raw" thought. I'm basically making things up as I go along. The only reason I'm saying anything is because I thought that if animals could communicate this way, then it might shed some light on how we can.

If you can offer any help, I'd appreciate it!
